Hashim T. Lubabatu Sessay known much as Ruby Sessay has said there is nothing beautiful about becoming a teen mother or getting pregnant at a teen-age.
The Level 100 student of the University of Education Winneba in her latest project was seen in a picture depicting the struggles of a teen mother to survive after getting pregnant.
Considering the causes and negative effects it has on the individual and the country, The 21 year-Old beautiful model who hails from the upper west region of Ghana sends a strong message to young girls to be extra careful in their dealings to avoid teenage pregnancy at all cost.
She also urges parents and guardians to do their part if not to do away with it, but to reduce the rate of teenage pregnancy.
Teenage pregnancies recorded in Ghana in 2020/2021 was overwhelming. On the regional level, the total number of teenage pregnancies was highest in the Ashanti Region with 17,802, followed by the Eastern Region which recorded 10,856.
Ghana recorded over 100,000 cases of teenage pregnancies in the year 2020 alone – This number is more than the total number of COVID-19 cases that have been confirmed in the country since day one.
In the upper west region where Model Ruby Sessay comes from, the number of teenage pregnancy recorded is 3,583.
