According to a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Ghanaian filmmaker, Kobi Rana, has called off the premiere of his much anticipated movie, FREEDOM AND JUSTICE, after it was banned from showing by the Ghana Tourism Association with no apparent reason(s) being communicated. The film was scheduled to premiere nationwide from Friday, 25th December, 2020 to to January 2, 2021 across various movie centers, cinemas and or halls.

In the statement, the director born Cornelius Phanthomas stated that, venues highlighted for the premiere were served with letters from the Ghanaian state agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts responsible for the regulation of tourism in Ghana. He explained that, after visiting the establishment, it was evident the venue was locked with armed state’s security personnel guarding it.

Set in Ghana and other parts of the African continent, a government conference is besieged by a group of people believed to be young citizens of the country. They hold the ministers and media hostage, asking for accountability live on national television. The movie is also centered on issues pertaining to illegal mining (galamsey), corruption amongst the governing body of the country and tendency of bringing perpetrators to book.

Other cast members of Freedom and Justice include Kafui Danku, Irene Opare, Kofi Adjorlolo, Mawuli Semevor, Akumaa Mama Zimbi and Ekow Blankson.

Apologizing to Ghanaians, especially the over 2154 tickets-buyers and locations owners for the unfortunate turn of events, Kobi Rana stated that, tickets may be returned to same outlets for a refund. He pledged his allegiance to abide by the decision of the authorities and adjourn the premiere of the movie, as his organization is noted for peace and costumer satisfaction in the past 17 years of providing quality entertainment to consumers.
