A Ghanaian singer and songwriter based in the Upper East region, Ishmael Pumi Bashiru known on stage as Prinx Pumi, is dead after sustaining gunfire injuries from an armed robbery attack.
A close source to the family who wants to remain unnamed related the terrible event that led to the death of the ‘Bisum’ singer.
According to our source, Prinx Pumi who is advancing his education at the University for Development (UDS), Tamale returned to Bolgatanga to proceed to Zebilla, the Bawku West District Hospital where he works as a professional nurse on Monday 19th July 2021.
Upon transiting Bolgatanga to meet friends and family, Prinx Pumi maintained he would leave Bolgatanga the same night to Zebilla because he will be working the next day.
Together with a friend whose name is only given as Paul, left Bolgatanga midnight to Zebilla. This is contrary to earlier reports that he rather left Zebilla to Bolgatanga.
Upon reaching the Tilli, a stretch on the Bolgatanga- Bawku road, they were ambushed by armed robbers at about 2 am Tuesday, 20th July 2021.
The armed robbers shot Prinx Pumi severally in the face at close range. He was rushed to the Bawku West District Hospital where he would later be transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
Pumi, sadly, gave up the ghost at about 3 pm Tuesday 20th July 2021. He is survived by a child, a wife, and both parents. He was 31.
His friend Paul withstood and is currently receiving treatment at the Bawku West District Hospital.
